About Our Tests
Opportunity Class Practice Tests
The test format is modelled after the NSW Opportunity Class (OC) Test to help prepare for entry into year 5 and 6 in Opportunity Class (OC) schools
Our tests contain 35 questions that are to be completed within 30 minutes. All tests contain a mixture of questions in Mathematics, General Ability and Reading Comprehension.
OC schools cater to students that typically demonstrate skill levels above average of the class they intend to enter. OC schools also form the natural progression path for students to later enter into year 7 Selective Schools because the advanced learning pace in OC schools give students somewhat of an advantage over others preparing for NSW Selective Schools.
Number of questions
For the Opportunity Class (OC) practice tests, there are currently approximately 1665 questions in this database.

SelectiveTests Provides Online Practice Tests.

These online practice tests can be used, not only by NSW school students, but by students in all Australian states that are preparing their children for curriculum at this level.
Test Practice Modes
"PRACTICE" Mode:
These are non-Timed tests. Questions are served randomly from the entire question database. It is possible to get the same question across different tests, since the number of questions is limited in the database. No history of your performance on these tests is saved (except the last test taken for each subject).
"TimedScore" Mode:
The questions contained in each TimedScore test are pre-defined, and you have a limited amount of time within which to complete a test. They simulate the real-world exams. Questions come from the same database as the Practice Mode tests. History of your tests is stored for the entire duration of your membership. You can review every question from the tests you took in the past at any time.
You can take the same TimedScore test as many times as you like, until you perfect it!

"My Daughter used the "Selective Tests" website for the last one year and found it very very effective. She got a lot of practice tests which helped her to fine tune her knowledge towards the actual examination. The investment was worth it. She has been selected for Baulkham Hills High School and in reserve for James Ruse. Her profiled score was 239.14." - SB

Selective Tests: New Test Format
Over the next few months, we will be gradually converting our tests to the new format.
Based on feedback, we will focus on Thinking Skills. Expect 5 to 6 tests in all by end January, 2021. Then in February, another 2 to 3 tests.
In my opinion, our existing tests are already great practice for the new English, Maths and Thinking Skills tests. I do, however,
understand the need to practice with the new format, especially where it concerns time management, and the "style" of questions.
- Tarun
The new tests and their formats are as follows:
- Reading: 40 minutes: 30 Questions
- Math Reasoning: 40 minutes: 35 Questions
- Thinking Skills: 40 minutes: 40 Questions
- Writing: 30 minutes
Selective School Practice Tests ("old" format)
There are numerous practice tests in English, Mathematics and General Ability. Essay competitions are held multiple times every year. The practice tests are modelled after the NSW Selective High School Test.
The four subjects that we cover are:
- English
- Maths
- General Ability (GA)
- Written Expression
Number of questions
